Miss Linda – Principal
Miss Linda lives locally and is a trained actress and P.A. She qualified as a Basic Skills teacher and after teaching for a year at the College of North East London, went to live on the Caribbean island of Bequia, St. Vincent. With the help of the Prime Minister, she started 3 literacy and numeracy schools on the island, teaching over 1,000 adults and children basic literacy and numeracy skills. Linda used a lot of the Montessori methods to teach these people as she believed passionately in the Montessori ethos, having seen the standards of excellence they achieved with her own children. She then set about starting a nursery school in the local primary school on the island and recruited 40 children in a short space of time. She vowed to start her own nursery school on returning to the U.K. This dream became a reality when she bought St. Edmund’s Montessori Pre School with her daughter, Simone, in 2014. Miss Linda is also a great believer that a child who expresses themselves artistically through drama, dance, art and music will achieve greater academic standards, and thus teaches drama on a weekly basis at St. Edmund’s. Miss Linda is also responsible for parent correspondence, free entitlement, book-keeping and scheduling events and activities.
Miss Simi – Deputy Principal
Miss Simi lives locally with her husband and two children and obtained a coveted place at Kings College, London to study midwifery. She is also a classically trained singer and an advocate of the arts. Miss Simi attended a Montessori school as a child, carrying this training through her academic career and believes it helped her to excel at Maths and English. She won the British National Maths Challenge, achieving a gold award, and credits this entirely to her Montessori experience at school. Miss Simi also attended a vocational school for her senior education and found that a tired body encouraged a focused mind, and believes in teaching the arts as early as possible to encourage academic progression. She also had the privilege of studying in New York for two years and graduating from high school and found this to be a culturally enriching experience. Miss Simi has strong leadership skills and wanted to start her own Montessori nursery/pre-school. Upon further discussion with Miss Linda (her mother), she decided to make her dreams come true by purchasing St. Edmund’s together in 2014. Miss Simi is responsible for purchasing supplies, recruitment, safeguarding and overseeing the day to day running and maintaining standards within St. Edmund’s.
