ABOUT St Edmund’s Montessori

Nestled in the picturesque village of Matching Green, St Edmund’s opened in September 2011 and is run with a mother and daughter partnership at the helm.

We offer a happy, safe and nurturing environment where your children’s learning is developed through a varied range of activities, incorporating EYFS and Montessori curriculums to achieve outstanding results.

Children gain independence and confidence through choosing different activities, both working independently and in peer groups, with free-flow access to a secure and very well resourced garden.

We understand that each child is an individual and treat them as such. We provide a tailored approach to your child’s education, and work in partnership with parents to create a bespoke experience, taking into account their personal interests, learning styles and goals.

Staff provide a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, happy and settle well. Children form close, caring bonds with their key person, other members of staff and each other. Staff are good role models. They encourage children to develop good social skills, to use good manners and to show care and concern for how each other are feeling‘ – Ofsted report November 2015

Lunch is a social time where the children sit together with the teachers to eat lunch, enjoying each others company and learning good table manners.
12.30pm – 1pm
Free time
Whilst our 1 o’clock leavers get prepared for home and say goodbye, everyone else is able to choose the activity, toy or game of their choice.
Afternoon activities
Every afternoon features a different activity, with some led by qualified teachers or specialists. These include:

  • Monday – Science and Messy Play
  • Tuesday – Yoga
  • Wednesday – Multisports
  • Thursday – Diddi Dance
  • Friday – Music and Singing

Before and after these sessions children can select which toys, games or books they would like to play with, with our role play area always very popular.

Snack and storytime
Snacks are always available but we know that sometimes children are enjoying themselves too much to stop, so we make sure little tummies are happy with a dedicated snack and drink time. Our children then settle in the cosy corner to hear a story from one of our teachers.
Free play
For our children staying later, our full range of activities are open to them. We serve a hot meal at around 5pm.
